Lionel Richie thinks Michael Jackson was the "silliest guy" he's ever met.
The 62-year-old singer will always remember the late singer - who died from acute Propofol intoxication aged 50 in June 2009 - as someone who was "funny and silly" because he often used to make the 'Dancing on the Ceiling' hitmaker laugh at "inappropriate times".
He said: "Michael Jackson was the silliest guy I ever met. He liked to trigger attacks of laughter at inappropriate times.
"I remember watching a dignitary giving a speech, and he looked over and started giggling ... that just set me off. That to me was who he really was.
"What we say later was a product of failure of the rest of his life. The guy was just funny and silly."
As well as finding Michael comical, Lionel was surprised to discover shopkeepers in Iraq welcomed American troops to their country by playing his 1983 hit single 'All Night Long' when the war started.
He added to The Observer Magazine: "I'm adored in the Arab world these days. The Sunnis and the Shi'ites can't agree on anything, but they're all getting married and partying to my songs.
"When the war in Iraq broke out, shopkeepers in Baghdad wanted to let the Americans know they were welcoming them in, so they played 'All Night Long' and the Iraqi battle song was 'Dancing on the Ceiling'. Go figure."
